Annual Report 2017
- The following activities of the Policy Document 2017 were undertaken.
- Harlem Renaissance Correspondance Project
On site visit ot the Special Collections Center, University of Chicago:
– Grace Holt Papers, African-American-Jewish Relations 1825-1927.
– Ida B. Wells Papers.
- Library
Some 50 volumes were acquired on 20th and 21st century American and English literature, contemporary literary criticism and reference books.
- Courses
During the 2017-2018 season, fifty-six lectures were delivered on English literature. Forty-eight by dr Van Notten on works by John Fowles, Zadie Smith, William Trevor, Miranda Carter, John Banville. Eight lectures were delivered on Charles Dickens by dr Wim Tigges. The lectures are delivered in Amsterdam, Brussels and at the premises of the Stichting in The Hague.
The total number of fee-paying students was 88, in September.
- Summer school
Three workshops were organised this year.
11 June: Graham Greene, The End of the Affair, for 11 participants.
2 July: Joyce Cary, The horse’s Mouth for 14 participants.
6 August: Steven Millhauser, Edwin Mullhouse for 9 participants.
They were chaired by dr Wim Tigges.
- Halloween
This year’s Halloween lecture was held in The Hague, on 31 October, by Dr Tigges on The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson, with 50 participants.
- The twenty-first annual meeting of the Board of the Eleonora Stichting was held May 19th at the Northwestern University in Chicago, Il. USA.
- Financial report. The policy is to support the activities of the Foundation as long as funds are available.

4. The Board wishes to recognise the commitment to the Stichting by Mr & Mrs W.F.J. van Notten for their annual contribution of € 4,000
5. The IRS (Belastingdienst) acknowledged the mission of the Eleonora Stichting and gave it the designation of a charitable foundation (Algemeen Nut Beogende Instelling) as of January 1st 2008 for an indefinite period.
6. Members of the Board are: dr Th.L. Heacox (chairman), W.F.J. van Notten (secretary & treasurer), Prof. dr P.E. Russell (Vassar College), and Prof. C. Cogswell (Northwestern University)
