Annual Report 2019
1. The following activities of the Policy Document 2019 were undertaken.
1.1. Harlem Renaissance Correspondence The research will focus on correspondence concerning the leading intellectuals of the Harlem renaissance such as Marcus Garvey, Walter White, James Weldon Johnson, and Alain Locke. The relevant archives are located at Exeter university, the British Library in London, the Beinecke Library at Yale University, The University of Oregon at Eugene, and the University of Florida at Gainesville. The Morant-Gale archives at the University of Exeter at Falmouth was visited with its correspondence of the Garvey family.
1.2. Library Some 50 volumes were acquired on 20th and 21st century American and English literature, contemporary literary criticism and reference books.Courses
1.3. Courses For the 2019-2020 season, forty-eight lectures were scheduled on English literature. Forty by Dr. Van Notten on works by Peter Carey, Rose Tremain, Giles Foden, Andre Dubus III, Toni Morrison and Amor Towles. Eight lectures were scheduled on Ford Madox Ford, Edith Wharton, Scott Fitzgerald, Evelyn Waugh, Graham Greene, Penelope Fitzgerald, Ha Jin and Julian Barnes by Dr. Wim Tigges. The lectures are delivered in Amsterdam, Brussels and at the premises of the Stichting in The Hague. Three workshops were organised in The Hague: On 30 June Chaucer’s The Canterbury Tales, on 28 July Shakespeare’s Sonnets and on 25 August Nabokov’s Lolita. The total number of fee-paying students was 115.
2. The twenty-second annual meeting of the Board of the Eleonora Stichting was held 9 September at the offices of the Stichting in The Hague.
4. The Board wishes to recognise the commitment to the Stichting by Dr. Th.L. Heacox and especially by Mr & Mrs W.F.J. van Notten for their contribution of € 4,000.
3. Financial Report. The policy is to support the activities of the Foundation as long as funds are available.

5. The IRS (Belastingdienst) acknowledged the mission of the Eleonora Stichting and gave it the designation of a charitable foundation (Algemeen Nut Beogende Instelling) as of January 1st 2008 for an indefinite period.
6. Members of the Board are: Dr. Th.L. Heacox (chairman) (College of William and Mary), W.F.J. van Notten (secretary & treasurer), Dr. P.E. Russell (Vassar College), and Prof. C. Cogswell (Northwestern University).
